We love the West Coast of Ireland. We find ourselves back here, time and again. We love the vast stretch of remoteness and crisp Irish air. This time, the road brought us to County Clare – Dromoland Castle, Doolin and the largest of the three Aran Islands: Inis Mór.
We celebrated Pauric’s birthday in the exquisite Dromoland Castle. There is so much to do, from archery, Falconing, Kayaking, just to name a few, that we decided to have a relaxing stroll around the estate and fairy garden and avail of their posh Spa and hot tub.
We had dinner at their Earl of Thomond Restaurant and it was a wonderful experience – especially for a special occasion. The staff at Dromoland go above and beyond for their guests and you will experience this from your arrival to your departure. The attention to detail and the little surprises makes your stay a memorable one.
After dinner we retired to the castles bar for a night cap. If you are lucky the hotels resident crooner/barman will serenade you while you find your seat in this spectacular and unique round bar. Keep an eye out for the fabled Jackalope or as i christned him the “Bunny Stag”.
For us, Dromoland is high above a 5 star hotel our second visit and definitely not our last
P.s The breakfast though….the best!!
After breakfast, the next morning, we drove to the little town of Doolin to catch the 11 am ferry to Inis Mór.
See what we did next on our trip in Part 2.
