We are so privileged and extremely delighted to announce that we have been nominated for a Liebster Award, this year!! Thank you Giorgi for this nomination.
The Liebster Award is an initiative created by bloggers for bloggers to gain exposure. It only exists online and the earliest Award was in 2011. During our recent trip to Munich, we learned that Liebster means nicest, loved and valued in German. With our blog, that is only 5 months old, we feel honoured to be a part of the Liebster Award Nominations this year.
It is wonderful to connect with like – minded individuals and discover new passions through others. We certainly have! For more information about the Awards and how you can get involved, The Global Aussie is the link to click.
Along with our nomination, we got asked a couple a questions. So here goes!
Have you decided where you want to live?
That’s easy! We have our hearts set on Ireland. Green fields, high cliffs, warm hearts…and yes we love the rain!
Who has been the most interesting person you have met during your travels?
The most interesting people we have met, was in Tanzania while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro; Killian and Balthazar. They were our mentors, our doctors, our spirit guides and all-round Yodas! No words can quantify or qualify the humility and gratitude we have learned and experienced with them on our journey.
If you could, which language would you like to learn or improve and why?
Swahili. After our experience in Tanzania, we would like to spend more time in Africa and do humanitarian work.
How did you start traveling? Did you always feel this strong desire of seeing the world?
Definitely. Books have been a major inspiration for both of us. But our travels started with a Work-away program in America. We lived in Florida and Long Island, NY while working as bartenders, waiters and hosts in up-market country clubs. On our days off, we traveled the States. This opened our world to endless possibilities and discoveries. We will never retire from travelling – that’s for sure.
How many countries have you seen? Which one is your favorite so far and why?
Thirteen and counting. We keep going back to France for the diversity, people, food and wine. The countryside is breathtaking and we generally come back inspired – mostly in home decor.
After all your travels, is there anything that still scares you on the road?
Yes! Guns! A different story for a different post.
People often say that traveling solo is not safe, especially for women. How would you reply to that?
A ship in port is safe. But that is not what ships are built for.
You have got to have your wits about you. It truly depends on the choices you make. Traveling can be as safe as being at home or it can be as unsafe as jumping out of a plane. The choice of ‘where, what, when and how’, is yours.
Have you ever made big sacrifices for living the dream on the road? If yes, what have you sacrificed?
Being new at travel blogging, we have not made any huge sacrifices yet.
What book/movie has inspired you most about your travels?
Aleph – Paolo Coelho. The idea of taking the Trans-Siberian train from Moscow to Vladivostok sounds thrilling!
What do you want to say to the people that are not happy with their lives and don’t do anything for changing it?
The choice is really yours. And so is happiness.
Now that you know a little more about us, it is our turn to reveal our nominations for the Liebster Award: These bloggers are worth following!
OUR NOMINATIONS
Giorgi from Giorgi’s Journey
A beauty with class and passionate about traveling.
Starting with the same person who nominated us: Giorgi recently traveled around Finland and Belgium and writes about the most interesting spots. We love her and her blog because of her warm, genuine heart. She is a true friend and following her would make you feel the same.
Meet Ana & Daniel from ‘The Two Outsiders‘!
A couple from Portugal and the connection these two have with each other shines on their Instagram. We love them because they make us laugh and they are truly living their lives to the fullest….and through LOVE! We are happy we connected and over the past two months, we have exchanged postcards. Very old-school!! XO
Another travel couple we admire, is Olivia & Kaid from Okworldtravel
These two are truly inspiring, from their ventures around the States to their charitable shop on Etsy. Their charisma and friendliness is infectious and we love them for that. Follow their journey here.
Evan & Angela from Squirrel Must Travel
We have so much in common with Evan and Angela, it feels like we almost know them. Breaking free on the open road, spontaneity is an understatement for these two. Their adventure in New Zealand is worth the read.
Their Instagram will take around the USA and remind us of everything we miss from living there.
Lastly, we would like to nominate robnmayla by Robert and Mayla
Their blog is a lifestyle blog as a married couple and all about their journey together for the past 11 years. Their photos are beautiful and you will see their adventures in Cancun, the Bahamas, England, Paris and more on their gram.
If you love romantic cities of the world, these two will take you there.
To our Nominees: We have the following questions:
When last did you sing to yourself? Or to someone?
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality, what would it be?
Name two things you and your partner have in common?
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you in an airport?
Who around you has the worst luck?
Do you add the tea bag before the water or do you had the water before the tea bag?
What is the one thing you have always wanted to ask an airline pilot?
You have one ticket to take you to paradise. Where is that? Why?
